Patrick Oates is a figurative painter working and living in Bangalow, NSW.

Patrick uses an experimental approach with his colour palette to encourage a translation of emotion and depth within his imagery. Currently mining the terrain of family folklore, his current work evokes nostalgia and has an investigative approach into the identity of family figures that he has never met and places he’s never been. Translating internal landscapes onto canvas.

Weaving a connection out of assumption, Pat is developing a family portrait full of strangers that he is getting to know.
