Leree was born in Sydney but now resides on a farm in the Byron Bay Hinterland.
She is inspired by the lush tropical northern rivers and the garden that surrounds her studio. Her botanical paintings often depict random bunches of flowers, foliage and fruit collected from the garden. The bold colours and tones in her palette reflect the changing seasons.
Leree works to capture and magnify the beauty of flowers, note the subtle differences in foliage and often delighting in the fading beauty of dying and falling flowers. Using a palette knife and oil paint she has the freedom to work wet into wet, applying the paint thickly allows her to denote expression and gesture giving movement and life into her canvases.
